What are Green Jobs?
Green Jobs protect the environment by reducing consumption of energy and raw materials, protecting and restoring ecosystems and contributing to the adaptation to climate change.
Put simply: Green jobs are contributing to a healthier planet for all of us – and future generations.
Conservation of resources
Careful use of soil and raw materials like wood, metals, water and energy sources. Reusing, as in recycling waste products, also saves resources.
Energy transition
Transition from old energy sources (oil, natural gas) to sustainable, renewable energies such as solar and wind energy or hydropower.
Sustainable life and economy
By consuming less, things can grow back and regenerate, so in the future, people will not be restricted by our current actions.
Safeguarding an intact environment
Environmental protection (soil, water, air, climate) and nature conservation (biodiversity, landscape protection) are essential for our well-being. They ensure clean water and healthy food.
Societal change
In the past, technical progress was equated with prosperity. Today, we know that an environment worth living in is of great importance for a good life. To achieve this, we all need to rethink, take action ourselves and protect our natural spaces and resources to a greater extent. This social change needs you and me.
